SUNBIOSIS ©
The symbiosis of designed systems, structures, buildings and cities
(so that they are tuned to the flows, fluxes and cycles of energy,
material, light and liquid on Earth) and the Sun.
The term sunbiosis was first coined by Brian T O Brien in his
Masters Thesis on Living Systems Architecture at the College of
Environmental Design (Architecture) in UC Berkeley written under
Sim van der Ryn from 1998/00.
SUNBIOSIS ©
is the underlying basis for design at Solearth Ecological Architecture in Ireland (www.solearth.com)
LIFEWARE ©
LIFEWARE is the third of three design ingredients that form Solearth’s
Vital Design protocol and is an original term coined by Solearth
to signify the non architectonic aspects of nature (wildlife,
water, air, radiation, vegetation) It, and its sibling concepts
hardware and software, are more fully explained on our web page
on Our Design Philosophy.
SOLEARTH ©
Solearth is our trading name and signifies our vision of a built environment that is designed on
an understanding of the delicate symbiotic balance between earth and sun.
SLOW ARCHITECTURE ©
Slow Architecture is a proposal we put forward to develop a movement
that tackles the relentless rush toward speed, uniformity and
mediocrity in architecture. It is discussed in more depth on our
web page Slow Architecture.
