Michael Haslam is a partner with Solearth
Michael was educated in architecture at the University of Edinburgh
and the University of Bath and has a diploma in Building Ecology
from the Bau-biologie Institute in Neubeurn, Germany.
He has worked for Feilden Clegg Bradley Architects and Edward
Cullinan Architects in the UK and in Spain and Germany. Michael
was project architect on a college library and several successful
housing schemes with Feilden Clegg Bradley Architects and on a
mobile theatre in Cologne, Germany.
Since joining Brian O’Brien as a partner in Solearth in
2001, he is fully involved in realising the establishment of an
ecological agenda in architecture with projects such as a wetland
visitor centre and a factory utilising round wood technology in
construction.
He won first prize in the UIA international ideas competition:
'Architecture and the Eradication of Poverty' with a catalyst
eco-system for the Sahel Desert and received an RIBA award for
the college library in Winchester with Feilden Clegg Bradley.
Michael has written for both the 'Architectural Review' and 'Architecture
Today' on architecture and the environment and has taught at the
University of Bath and teaches at DIT in Dublin. He is a member
of the Sustainability Task Force with the RIAI and is a registered
architect in Ireland and the UK.
