Enlargement of an historic cottage (protected structure) to add living space, re-orientate the house toward the sun and improve the relationship to the garden, in Dublin.

The solar passive design mediates between the height limit set by the existing cottage and a shared sewer underneath and uses the falling section of the garden to create a new flow of spaces from front to back. The construction is highly insulated timber frame with airtight construction.

Materials are reused, natural or recyclable with organic finishes throughout. Solar thermal interfaces with biomass heating for CO² reduction/elimination.
